Estalagem dos Clerigos is located in the village of Nordeste (North east), in the island of Sao Miguel, archipelago of The Azores. As the name indicates the village is located on the eastern part of the island.
The Estalagem is in a wonderful location offering a superb view over the ocean and the village.
In the main building of the Estalagem there are twenty bedrooms and one suite. There are four Duplex suites in two houses adjacent to the main building equipped with microwave, four ring cooker and air conditioning.
All bedrooms are air conditioned and have telephone, cable television, internet connection, private balcony and hair dryer.
Facilities and services include outdoor swimming pool, safe at the reception and laundry service.
The Estalagem also has a restaurant and a bar.
The Azores are 1300 kms west of Portugal’s mainland. The archipelago’s nine islands are known for their spectacular volcanic scenery, abundant flora and peaceful way of life and have become a popular destination for those who enjoy a closer contact with nature.
Sao Miguel is the largest and most populated island of the archipelago. Ponta Delgada, the island’s capital has many impressive churches, convents recalling the wealthy days when the port was a crucial stop between Europe and the New World.
East of the island, the Lagoa do Fogo “Lake of Fire”, was formed by a volcanic eruption in 1563. A visit to this natural site is a must.
Caldeiras das Furnas is the ideal place to admire other of the island’s curiosity’s, where visitors can see the hot bubbling springs that provide the therapeutic mud and mineral water used in the spa treatment.
In the northwest of Sao Miguel there is a giant volcanic crater, Caldeira das Sete Cidades, with a 12 km circumference.
The airport is located in the South west of the island, near Ponta Delgada, approximately 83 kilometres from Estalagem dos Clerigos.
